My name is Taresa McSpadden and I am 20 years old. I am a junior at Cal State San Marcos and am majoring in Liberal Studies while also getting a minor in Sociology. I was born in Oceanside, CA and have lived in Vista all of my life. I attended Beaumont Elementary for grades K-5, then I moved to Madison Middle School for grades 6-8 and finally to Rancho Buena Vista High School for grades 9-12. The only college I have and will attend is CSUSM!
As for technology, I am a PC person all the way. However just being in this class a few days, I have enjoyed the MAC, so we’ll see what happens. I pretty much rely on technology all day long! Whether it’s driving my car to school or checking my email hourly, I am always using technology. My cell phone is also a huge part of my life, I wish it wasn’t at times, but life goes on.
This is my favorite part of the mission statement; “to transform public education by preparing thoughtful educators and advancing professional practices…” I really like how this is worded. It shows that the College of Ed is really trying to do their best in training their educators these days. I really like the whole mission statement but this was the part that stuck out the most in my mind. As for it being my decision to apply to CSUSM or not, it was 100% me! I have wanted to be a teacher for a long time and most of the teachers that I know received their credential at CSUSM. Therefore, I really wanted to go here. In fact I got accepted to some other colleges and was waiting to hear from CSUSM before I accepted them.
